Kim Kardashian is embroiled in a legal battle with a diet cookie manufacturer after branding its sweet weight loss treats "unhealthy."
The "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star kicked off the fight with bosses at Dr. Siegel's Cookie Diet Company, accusing them of falsely claiming she was endorsing their brand.
CEO Matthew Siegel, son of the celebrity doctor behind the weight loss program, countered by filing his own lawsuit in Miami Dade County, Florida, on Tuesday morning - after discovering the star used her Twitter.com blog to claim Dr Siegel's cookies are unhealthy.
Siegel claims Kardashian had "commercial motive" for the attack because she is a spokesperson for a rival weight loss program QuickTrim.
He tells RadarOnline.com: "We received a letter a week ago asking us to remove a link to a news story (that we did not write) on our website that implied she was using and endorsing our product. And although we did this we discovered that more than a month before she had made her comments on Twitter claiming our product was "unhealthy" while somebody also leaked a letter from her lawyers to our company to a celebrity website."
Siegel is seeking unspecified damages against Kardashian.

George Clooney is handsome and savvy, but he’s also self-aware when it comes to his ladies-man reputation. When he signed to play an eternal bachelor in his latest film, Up in the Air, directed by Jason Reitman (Juno), he immediately saw parallels between the character and himself. “Jason came to my house and brought the script and I read it,” Clooney says. “There were some things that sounded like they were taken from a Barbara Walters special that I had done. I’m not completely unaware of people’s perceptions of me. I sort of felt like, if you were ever going to deal with it, this is probably the best way to do it and the best person to do it with. If you can’t point at what people think are your shortcomings, then you’re boxing yourself in.”
He’s also particular about not allowing a body double in his films, even for the split-second shot of his thumb on a suitcase handle in Up in the Air. “I bite my cuticles so I’m always ashamed,” he admits. “But when you see somebody else’s hand come in and it’s got, like, different fingers or hairy knuckles, it doesn’t look right.”

Gaga Discusses Susan Boyle Duet, Using 'Different Styles' as Euphemism for 'Too Ugly'
Lady Gaga loves the Hairy Angel and thinks a duet could [happen]: "I love Susan Boyle. She is my woman of the year. She has achieved more in this year than most artists will in a lifetime." Is this the greasy-haired Alanis Morissette looks-like-a-loner (but maybe I'm just projecting) from Gaga's college years talking? [addendum A.] "Our styles are so different. I don't know if we could work together, but never say never. It would be great to work with somebody of that talent." If they did it, though, it would be a shoo-in for the most viral music video of our time.

I'm GaGa for SuBo
[...]
"This time last year nobody even knew who she was and now she is knocking the world's most established artists off the album and singles charts."
[...]
She said: "I have watched the clip of her singing on BGT a thousand times and every time I see SIMON COWELL's face it makes me laugh out loud. He thinks he knows everything but even he wasn't expecting that." Both GaGa and SuBo have high-profile gigs to bring in the New Year tomorrow.
Lady G is being paid £200,000 to perform at the swanky Fontainebleau hotel in Miami, while Susan will be singing on Japan's biggest TV music show, Kohaku Uta Gassen.

We’ve got some photos of the 2010 premiere episode of Community! This episode is called “Investigative Journalism” and it will air on Thursday, January 14th (2010!) at 8 pm ET/PT on NBC. We have to do our own investigative journalism with these pictures and see what we can glean…
- Senor Chang is getting back to his roots. Or something. Yea.
- Annie and Jeff will tease us by being unbearably cute/wrong together.
- For probably a really good reason, Annie gets Britta to be a cheerleader.
- For an even better reason, the girls decide to get all soapy with suds. This doesn’t look like a car was scene, OR a porno. So I’m at a loss for what the reason would be.
Episode Synopsis: Community “Investigative Journalism” Episode 13 – A new addition to the study group after winter break raises eyebrows; Jeff signs on as editor of the school paper.

One of Bollywood's favorite couples, Shahrukh Khan and Kajol, are set to make their comeback with the movie "My Name is Khan." The first trailer has built up some curiosity about the film which is set to release in February.
Shahrukh Khan plays the role of a man who has Autism yet manages to find love. He and his wife, face trying times as they live through the terror attacks that took place in the U.S. on September 11, 2001. As racism tests the strength of this couple's relationship, there is no saying what the outcome will be.
I feel like we have been waiting for a trailer for years now. I'm not really sure how I feel about this trailer...but it's unbelievably ironic after the whole New Jersey airpot affair with SRK that actually happened.
Also, have anyone here faced racism and prejudice after 9/11? I know I have.

Zelda Rubinstein, who made a name for herself starring in the Poltergeist films and has long been a vocal supporter of gay rights and AIDS research, is in failing health after being hospitalized in Los Angeles for more than a monthSources close to the actress report to Advocate.com that the 76-year-old is in and out of consciousness and that both her kidneys and lungs are failing.
Rubinstein spoke to The Advocate earlier this year about a 1984 ad campaign she starred in urging gay men to wear condoms and practice safer sex. The actress appears as a mother figure in the ads, which predated Elizabeth Taylor's and Madonna's AIDS involvement by at least a year.
The ads found a second life earlier this year in an AIDS education campaign in Brazil.

I stumbled across this news this evening while on IMDB and I hadn't seen it on here. Apparently it was all over the net yesterday, but I mostly get my news here and I'm sure I'm not the only one so I thought I'd post it. The "mother" AIDS campaign happened before I was born and I never knew about Zelda's involvement in gay rights. Poltergeist is one of my favorite movies and Zelda's episode of Tales from the Crypt definitely scarred me as a child.
Remember: "There is no death. It is only a transition to a different sphere of consciousness."

/Film reader Craig G sent over a couple scanned photos from M. Night Shyamalan’s 'The Last Airbender'. The latest issue of Empire Magazine, the one with Matt Damon in Green Zone on the cover, has an indepth report from the set of Last Airbender.
Based on the hugely successful Nickelodeon animated TV series, the live-action feature film is set in a world where human civilization is divided into four nations: Water, Earth, Air and Fire.
The Fire Nation is waging a ruthless, oppressive war against the other three nations. The film’s hero, the reluctant young Aang (Noah Ringer), is the “Last Airbender” — the Avatar who, according to prophecy, has the ability to manipulate all of the elements and bring all the nations together.
Aided by a protective teenage Waterbender named Katara (Nicola Peltz) and her bull-headed brother Sokka, Aang proceeds on a perilous journey to restore balance to their war-torn world. Dev Patel plays the Fire Nation’s evil prince Zuko. Exiled from the Fire Nation by his father, Zuko is sent to capture the Avatar in order to restore his honor and right to the throne.
The Last Airbender is being targeted for a July 2nd 2010 release.

While many of their fans can't get enough of "Use Somebody", Kings of Leon apparently has grown tired of their particular hit single. Bassist Jared Followill recently shared his thought with Spin Magazine, saying "Before it was on the radio every five seconds, I thought 'Use Somebody' was a good song, but it's hard to f***kin' like it when you hear it 90 times a day."

Beatles fans certainly have plenty of ways to indulge the memory of their favourite group: The Cavern in Liverpool packs in tourists every night of the week, as does the Hard Days Night Hotel around the corner...and in 2010, fans of John, George, Ringo and Paul will be able to sail on the high seas while bopping along to the group's hits.

After going the Hollywood route earlier this year, Radiohead’s Thom Yorke will soon abandon vampires and Kristen Stewart for Tibet and, more specifically, a new documentary on the country’s ongoing freedom movement, titled When The Dragon Swallowed The Sun. As evident by the documentary’s homepage, the Radiohead frontman has teamed up with Irish singer/songwriter Damien Rice (who most recently could be found busking with Bono) and American music composer Philip Glass for the film’s soundtrack.
The film promises to “show, for the first time, an inside perspective on the Tibetan movement to free Tibet from Chinese occupation, its internal conflicts and contradictions.” In addition to the soundtrack’s high-profile collaborators, the film features Richard Gere, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and the 14th Dalai Lama, as well as Dennis Haysbert, who narrated the prologue.
Exact release dates for both the film and the soundtrack have yet to be unveiled, but, according to the film’s Facebook, the world premiere is set for early 2010. Check out the trailer here.

To sum it up: NEW THOM YORKE NEW THOM YORKE
eta: I'm
For many people, the thrill of the recent revelation that the writer Jeanette Winterson is dating Susie Orbach is that Orbach is not some bolshie 20-year-old with tats and piercings who is declaring she’s a dyke and running off to do queer performance art in Dalston.
This is about the nice lady in your street who puts out her recycling bins, gives dinner parties, reads the good newspapers and, one day, leaves her male partner of many years and runs off with someone the bad papers would describe as a “notorious lesbian”.
Orbach, 63, the psychologist and author of the classic Fat Is a Feminist Issue, is the latest in a new wave of late-flowering lesbians, who often leave their husbands after having children together.
Check out Mary Portas, 49, who divorced her husband of 13 years in the 1990s and now lives with her two children and her glamorous girlfriend, the Grazia fashion writer Melanie Rickey. Or the 43-year-old singer Alison Goldfrapp, famous for teasing audiences into a dark sexual frenzy, who recently embarked on a relationship with Lisa Gunning, the hip film editor who worked on Sam Taylor-Wood’s John Lennon movie, Nowhere Boy.
As if to remind us that lesbian love is for ever lurking, on New Year’s Eve ITV1 presents us with Joanna Briscoe’s Sleep with Me, an erotic drama involving a middle-class woman whose relationship with her boyfriend is shattered when she falls obsessively for another woman.
Back in the 1990s, when the phrase “lipstick lesbian” was coined, Martina Navratilova and kd lang were pretty much the only lesbians anyone had ever heard of. Things are different now — and, once you have good role models, it appears that the floodgates open.
This month, in America, 62-year-old Meredith Baxter, famous as the hippie mom in the 1980s Michael J Fox vehicle Family Ties, also came out. The thrice-married actress is a big name over there, making this the biggest lesbian story since Sex and the City’s Cynthia Nixon, 43, left the father of her two kids to make a go of it with the unapologetically butch Christine Marinoni.
Last month, Baxter and the Top Gun diva Kelly McGillis (another recent midlife lezza) were spotted together on board the Sweet Caribbean Cruise for lesbians, appearing, said the National Enquirer, “very relaxed and comfortable”.
You bet they were comfortable. Just ask Jennifer, a 41-year-old divorced mother of three from Manchester. She says she often finds herself being approached by women — usually describing themselves as bisexual, and often with a man in the background they’re cheating on.
“You don’t feel like you’re being used for sex when you have sex with a woman,” she says. “Maybe it’s because women are on the same wavelength. We’re nicer to each other.”
Or ask Sarah, a 40-year-old costume designer. Her 14-year-old daughter encouraged her to go out more when she split with her husband of 15 years. She didn’t mind that many of her mother’s friends were lesbians, and Sarah soon found herself having a string of affairs.
“Hanging out with lesbians is sort of like an X-rated Malory Towers — sort of mischievous and sexy,” she says. “The icing on the cake is that you don’t need contraception and there’s less chance of getting a sexually transmitted disease.”
Sharon Stone has another take on the allure of lesbian love. Two years ago, she confessed to me in an interview that some of her best dates had been with “butch lesbians”, because they know how to take control. “Everybody is bisexual to a certain area on the scale,” she said. “I like masculinity and, in truth, only women do that now. If you go out on a date with women, then women take you. They date you. They call you up and say ‘I’m going to pick you up at seven’, and you don’t have to say where you want to go, and they take you to somewhere great and you can dress like a chick.”
